General info

What is Bionano?

BioNanoScience is the convergence of Biology, Physics, Photonics, Nanotechnology and Medicine for new discoveries in Life Sciences, ultimately targeted to solving healthcare problems.

The BioNanoScience program at ICFO aims at a holistic understanding of biological function and mechanisms of molecular regulation at the nanoscale within the full complexity of living cells.

Moreover, through fundamental understanding and the combination of novel nano-tools for biomolecular manipulation and ultra-sensitive sensing, we expect to have an impact on solutions for the treatment and preventive diagnosis of diseases, including targeted nanomedicine.
